Which aspect of your Genius Hour Project do you enjoy most? Which aspect do you enjoy least? My favorite part of my Genius Hour project is knowing my project is going to create something with substance. Other projects involving food and other short-time projects (in my opinion) would not reap the same benefits as my project. My least favorite aspect of the After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk about education, express your thoughts on how his views do/do not relate to the concept of Genius Hour. What about Ken Robinson's views do you agree/disagree with? After watching Ken Robinson's TED talk about education, I feel his views related well to the concept of Genius Hour. Though my Project is unique in the fact that it does not pertain to something I am particularly interested in, Genius Hour creates an atmosphere that allows students to become as in-depth as they would like to. Allowing students to study what interests them gives students a chance to connect to their schooling and actually enjoy their schoolwork. Now that you have taken part in Genius Hour for a marking period, how can you relate to the article? Do you agree/disagree with the info in the article? Do you have anything new to add to the discussion? After taking part in Genius Hour for a marking period, I can relate to the article. I enjoy the difficulty and challenge involved with structuring the parking lots at KHS. Genius Hour is an amazing opportunity for students. It's easy to relate because students choose a topic that interests them. I look forward to doing more research on this topic and I have become quite interested in parking lot structure thanks to this project. The way Genius Hour is run is also very beneficially for the students involved. Instead of having to reach daily goals, students are given a certain criteria they are expected to meet within a certain period of time and are given free-reign during specified class times to complete said criteria. I only disagree with one aspect of the article, snow days. Since most of my project's work is outside of class, having a snow day or two wouldn't hurt my project in the least, and I wouldn't mind taking a break from Genius Hour every once in a while to recollect my thoughts. I have nothing further to add to this discussion. Now that your Genius Hour projects are underway, what do you predict will be your biggest obstacle? How do you intend to overcome that obstacle? My biggest obstacle for this project will most likely be my lack-of-familiarity with the subject at hand. I have very little experience working with parking lots. I don't even have a driver's license yet! I intend to overcome this challenge by asking people who are familiar with the way the parking lots are designed for assistance and looking up online the most affect ways to structure a parking lot. Describe what your Genius Hour Project would look like if you could make it the very best it could be. With an unlimited amount of resources my Genius Hour Project would help the school tremendously. I would be able to completely redesign the parking lots and create a safer, more easy flowing parking lot. My plans would consist of many more changed than what has been projected and include more aesthetically appealing qualities instead of simple structure qualities. If I was able to expand to Genius Hour Project to capacity many of the current parking lot problems would be resolved at KHS and the recent "fender bender" issue would quickly be terminated. Both the Main and West parking lots would become much easier to navigate and all problems involving the lots would be eliminated.
